Welcome

‘Somerset Lamb’ was a welcome escape that turned a hobby into a farm. 10 years on, we have 300 ewes and hope to raise 500 lambs a year. We also run a farm contracting business.

Our sheep are purebred Lleyn ewes, most of which are mated with Texel rams to produce really tasty meat. The Lleyn breed originates from the Lleyn peninsula in North Wales.

We breed all our own replacement ewes, so each year, some of the flock are selected to produce ewe lambs.

Our sheep live a healthy outdoor life; they only eat grass, and hay or silage during the winter months. We also give them ‘licks’ that provide them with essential minerals, and at lambing time, the ewes are given molasses (black treacle), which helps to keep their energy levels up.
